Guest House; Access Statement

Introduction.

Castle Farm Guest House is a converted 19th century farmhouse, used as a Bed and Breakfast establishment since September1982.  We are situated at one end of the village of Fotheringhay in our own grounds and offer accommodation for business people, holidaymakers and in fact anyone who is visiting the area for whatever reason.  Although the house lends itself to its present occupation, there are areas that some people with impaired mobility might find difficult to access.  For instance the bedrooms are above ground floor level and these are only accessible by using the stairs.  They would therefore not be suitable for use by wheelchair users.  There is one ground floor room, but this was converted from a coalhouse many years ago and has tight corners and a very small bathroom.

We do not accept any pets indoors though some guests do bring dogs that stay in their vehicles.

  • Our other two bedrooms are in the annexe and have their own external entrance.
  • Entrance to the annexe is via the courtyard up a 6 inch threshold step.
  • One of these bedrooms is on the ground floor and suitable for those who prefer not to negotiate stairs.  This is a twin room with an en suite shower.
  • There are fifteen stairs to a double room with bath above.
  • These two rooms are suitable for a family who prefer to be more self contained.
  • There are details of local attractions in each bedroom and more information on the notice board in the kitchen.

Garden

  • We have a large garden with lawns, flower beds and a small vegetable plot.
  • The lawns lead down to the River Nene at the front.  This is an unfenced area so it is essential that parents watch their children.
  • Access to the garden is through the garden gate at the side of the house. This should be kept shut at all times as we have a dog who likes to escape!
